St. Joseph's has become the leading Southwest Central Arkansas healthcare provider in the state offering a variety of excellent services. Needing a complete cardiac healthcare center, the Mercy Heart Center of Excellence was created. The center provides a chest pain center as a major component of emergency services. It gives a "front door" to cardiac care for the community with its own entrance and parking. Support services give immediate access to cardiac rehab, education and dietary training, as well as the major cardiology clinics in the community. It also provides immediate access to the existing cardiac cath labs, surgery, and inpatient care. The chest pain center is located between the support services and the ER entrance and provides all of the cardiac care in one concentrated location for inpatient and outpatient needs. The design of the facility mirrored that of the original facility as desired by the hospital.
