During the JFK Administration, National Nutritional Research Centers were forecasted into the 21st century. Arkansas Children's Hospital became the 5th selected site for this unique program. Program requirements dictated the need for a 115,000 square feet facility. The first phase consists of a 28,000 square feet. single story building housing administrative offices, one small prep lab, testing rooms and a live-in unit (six hotel-like rooms for overnight stays). Future construction will add three more floors for research laboratories and their support spaces.
