Center for Psychiatric Research
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
Little Rock, Arkansas

The new Center for Psychiatric Research, Education and Clinical Care at UAMS will, for the first time, bring together Psychiatric care that has been scattered across more than 15 locations in Pulaski County. This new consolidated facility of approximately 42,000 square feet will add critically needed community-based services including meeting spaces and expanded clinical and counseling services to late adolescents, adults and the elderly. The building will also house a new Educational Programs Suite, centralizing the UAMS department's student, residency and fellowship programs. The initial four levels will be designed for flexibility and growth up to eight levels. The south facing entry level will include a garden, double height circulation space, lecture hall, public meeting spaces and vehicular drop off. The facility will incorporate a sustainable systems approach to design including energy efficiency, resource conservation and most of all spaces that promote well-being with natural daylight and excellent indoor air quality.
