After conducting surveys and studying current cancer statistics in the region served by the hospital, St. Joseph's determined that an all inclusive cancer treatment center would be of great benefit to the community. The project consists of a remodel of their existing therapy center to add a second, more advanced, linear accelerator and the rearrangement of the patient waiting and gowning areas to enhance patient comfort. The project also involves extensive additions to the existing therapy center including: a new simulator suite, a new infusion suite, a larger patient friendly lobby and reception area, a resource library and community education areas, a small rental space for a prosthetics retailer, cancer patient support services and a medical oncologist office.
