To better serve the women of the community and promote preventive health care, this project was conceived as a building to be designed specifically for women and one that would provide a place where they would feel comfortable and invited. Because of the need to provide a separate identity for these services, this project developed as a two-story addition to the existing hospital with its own entrance and lobby. The main floor of the building is designed for the Mercy Breast Center, the Mercy Pregnancy Care clinic, a resource library and a community education center. The second floor will be leased to a large OB/GYN medical practice. The building was also designed with expansion in mind to accommodate any future women's services that may arise.
